Social Media Content for B2B: What Really Works

Why polish alone is not enough in B2B – and which content formats actually attract customers and applicants on LinkedIn, Instagram & beyond.

Many businesses post regularly – and wonder why nothing happens. The problem is rarely the camera. It almost always comes down to who the content is for and what it is meant to achieve. Here are the principles we follow when planning and producing B2B content.

People follow people, not logos

In B2B, people ultimately buy from people. Content that shows faces – management, experts, the team – builds trust before the first conversation takes place. A logo on a stock photo cannot do that.

One audience, one problem, one post

Good B2B content answers a specific question your target audience has. Instead of “We are your partner for quality”, try:

  • What exactly does a project with you involve?
  • What mistakes do customers encounter repeatedly – and how can they be avoided?
  • What happens behind the scenes that no one normally sees?

The more specific the question, the more likely it is to resonate with the right person.

Formats that work in B2B

  • Expert clips: short statements from in-house experts addressing a practical question.
  • Behind the Scenes: insights into production, processes or projects – authentic rather than staged.
  • Customer projects: the starting point, the solution, the result – told concisely, ideally with input from the customer.
  • Recruiting content: employees show their everyday work. This has a stronger impact on applicants than any job advertisement.

Plan ahead instead of posting on impulse

The biggest difference between businesses that succeed on Social Media and everyone else is consistency. Producing several weeks of material in one shoot day lets you post regularly without starting from scratch every week.

An editorial calendar defines which topics appear when and on which channel. This ensures every post supports a broader goal.

The right format for each platform

The same video does not work equally well everywhere. LinkedIn allows for more technical depth, while Instagram and TikTok need a quick hook in the first few seconds. Vertical video, subtitles and a clear opening message are essential in mobile feeds – many people watch without sound.

Measure what matters

Likes are nice, but they are not a business goal. What matters more is what happens next: enquiries, applications, conversations and profile visits from decision-makers.

Conclusion

B2B content does not need to be loud; it needs to be relevant. Knowing your audience, showing people and publishing consistently builds trust long before a proposal is written. If you want to know what this could look like for your business, let’s talk.
